Board Care

DO

  • Hand wash in warm soapy water with a soft cloth. Rinse. Dry immediately with a lint free cloth and place it on a drying rack for air flow.
  • Wait at least 12 hours after washing before conditioning your board with food grade mineral oil.
  • We recommend conditioning your board every two to three months, or sooner if your board is dry.

DON’T...

  • Leave your board submerged in water.
  • Lay your damp board on a flat surface with no airflow.
  • Place your board in an oven, microwave, or dishwasher.
  • Use bleach or other cleaning agents such as 409, vinegar, etc... Only use soap and water.
  • Use abrasive materials such as steel wool, scouring pads, etc... Only use a soft cloth.
  • Allow your board to dry out. Condition regularly with food grade mineral oil.

Shipping

Once an order is placed, it is processed and shipped from our office. Tracking information will be sent to your email address.

  • We do ship in the Continental USA along with Alaska and Hawaii. We do not ship internationally.
  • We do ship to PO Boxes, but we strongly recommend a physical address if possible.
  • Charcuterie 1 is not liable for orders with an incorrect shipping address provided by the customer.
  • Customers are responsible for paying shipping costs if an item is returned. The shipping cost will not be refunded.

Returns & Exchanges

  • If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, please contact us within 30 days of placing your order to discuss a replacement, exchange, or return.
  • Item(s) must be returned unused.
  • Approval of return or exchange will be processed using the original payment method. Depending on the situation, store credit may be issued.

No, our boards are made from a single slab of wood. This allows you to enjoy the uninterrupted flow of the beautiful wood grain.

Since our boards are natural and unseamed, the circumference of the tree determines the width of the boards. This variance in tree circumference is what leads to the necessity of offering a range of widths in our boards.

Black Walnut and Cherry are the predominant woods we use for our boards. Our Legacy Collection includes additional wood types such as Mulberry, Honey Locust, Boxelder and Apple when available.

For the Legacy Collection – Yes
For the Classic Collection – No, the images shown are representative examples of our Classic Collection. As each board is crafted from natural wood, variations in grain pattern and character are to be expected. While each piece is uniquely its own, the board will be plus or minus one-quarter inch of the stated length. The width and thickness will be within the range shown.

At Charcuterie 1 we have already removed the bark on all our boards. This removes any concern of the bark separating from your board in the future.

Our boards do not have feet on them as we don’t want them running away. Each board is designed with subtly routed edges on the underside of both ends. This allows for easy handling of the board, while preserving the wood’s natural beauty and character.

Wood is a natural material, and it will show scratches and knife marks. If you choose to cut on your board, remember the benefit of cutting on wood is it keeps your knives from dulling because wood is softer than your knife.
